On February 17, 2016, Governor Asa Hutchinson issued an Executive Memo to state agencies, offices and departments directing them to work with the Arkansas History Commission and State Archives in the preservation of agency records not currently in use in state offices.
In pursuance of this, the History Commission is holding the first of a series of preservation workshops for representatives from state agencies, offices and departments on March 23. The workshops will focus on the preservation and conservation of records, both in electronic and paper formats. There will also be a discussion about the identification of the types of records that should be preserved and/or transferred and how best to transfer those records to the History Commission.
Dates of future workshops will be May 4, June 8, and August 10. The History Commission will be issuing further information about these workshops in the near future.
