Arkansas State Archives to host Genealogy Day Oct. 27
In honor
of Archives Month, the Arkansas State Archives will hold a special Genealogy
Day event from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at the State Archives at 1
Capitol Drive. The event is meant to help fledgling and longtime researchers
with their genealogy projects.
Staff and members
of the Arkansas genealogy community will be on hand to provide individualized
help to researchers. Staff member Lauren Jarvis will give an overview of the
archives around 9 a.m., after which staff member Danyelle McNeill will
demonstrate how to search for information on the Arkansas State Archives
website.
The event
is for everyone. Genealogy is the second biggest hobby in the U.S. and is
growing in popularity. All who are interested can benefit by working with other
genealogists,
“Every
researcher has some problem or question that they have not been able to solve,”
said Susan Boyle, a noted genealogist who will be helping at the event. “This
is a good day for researchers to come with their ‘brick walls.’”
Arkansas
State Archives staff look forward to the opportunity to help people with their
genealogy conundrums!
